Portland Brew
Editor’s note: Portland Brew on Murphy Road is now Dose.
I’m typing this very moment from Portland Brew (the Murphy Road location – not mentioned on the website). The shop has a wide variety of coffees and (a nice surprise) loose-leaf teas. Chilled sandwiches are available, along with a variety of pastries. There’s free wireless internet; each seating location along the walls has a convenient outlet for powering your laptop.
I had a single latte and a white chocolate apricot scone; both were excellent. Portland Brew’s single lattes are more generous in size than those served at Fido. Lunchtime is surprisingly not too busy. There are about half a dozen people here, ranging from those lounging in cutoff shorts to a couple of businessmen on a lunch break.
Portland Brew looks like a great, not-too-busy place to stop for a break. Aesthetically, it looks like it could be kept up better – it feels a little pieced together. But At $2.75 for a single latte, the price is right, and so is the location.

How was the service there? I got grumped at so badly last time I went into the East Nashville Portland Brew on a Saturday morning that I have not been back.
Love their coffee, but am a little dismayed at the Portland-style service and attitude I got there.
Don’t have a google blogger account, so I am using my cat’s account.
