F. Scott’s
We’ll let you in on a little secret: one of Nashville’s best restaurants goes half-price after 9pm. Yes. F. Scott’s, a restaurant in Green Hills, is a great little restaurant for excellent food and jazz music. We dined there on a Friday evening. Making a reservation is recommended.
When you sit down, you’ll be presented with the full-price menu. But as long as you can divide by 2, you’ll see the great value you’re about to get for great food.
My husband and I had the “Quail stuffed with Wild Mushrooms, Spinach, Bacon, Pecans, Lingonberry Gastrique” for an appetizer – very affordable at $6.50. There was an amazing smokiness to this dish, and the lingonberry added a nice sweetness to the otherwise very savory flavors.
For my entree, I had the “Pumpkin Seed and Pine Nut Crusted Arctic Char, Wild Gulf Shrimp, Scallion Fondue with Meyer Lemon Butter and Cauliflower.” Arctic char is a fish similar to salmon, and the dish was excellent (and just $12!). My husband had the “Grilled Beef Tenderloin, Carnarolli Risotto, Roasted Wild Mushrooms, Swiss Chard, Madeira Jus” which he loved ($17).
For dessert, we had the coconut cake with chocolate sauce. This was the only low point of the meal, as the cake tasted a little ordinary.
We highly recommend this restaurant if you’re on a budget but want to splurge a little bit. Seating in the dining area is ideal for hearing the great music wafting over from the bar area, but it’s still quiet enough to stay in the background for conversations.

Hi Folks,
I found your blog via Eric and Katie. I too am adamant about the “no chains” rule myself.
I am an unrepentant northerner, and in the 2 years of living here am still reeling from the lack of breakfast and deli. No bagels, no pizza, no delis, diners – even chinese food is different. Try to find Chow Fun on any menu. Fortunately I have the means to travel back there frequently.
Your site seems quiet – no updates since April? You should see if you can get some exposure from Nashville is Talking, a local blog aggregator.

My favorite part of F. Scott’s is not the food, but the atmosphere. Although the food and prices are both good reasons to go, I always enjoy the feeling that I am a “cool cat” in the 1940′s going to see some jazz legend, like Ella Fitzgerald. It definitely makes for an elegant night out.
