The Veggie Cafe

Update: this restaurant has closed.

Much has been written on Nashville food blogs about The Veggie Cafe, located in East Nashville on Riverside Drive. As such, we won’t go into specifics but we just want to report an excellent meal we had there yesterday. Items we enjoyed included a veggie quesadilla, the “TLT” sandwich (a tempeh-lettuce-tomato sandwich), and side salad. Everything was delicious, and the tempeh was especially good.

We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly the staff were! They answered all our questions and were very knowledgeable about how vegan- or vegetarian-friendly the items on their menu were. Our dining experiences in Nashville have shown us that good service is often hard to come by, so anytime we have a great experience we want to broadcast it. We hope to make it to brunch sometime soon. We encourage you to try out The Veggie Cafe soon!

I had the TLT with tempeh and loved it. I just wish the tempeh I buy at the store tasted that good!

Lesley – that’s exactly what Megan said, about how it falls short when you try to replicate it at home with store-bought tempeh!
