Bits and Bites

Frequent readers of our site will have noticed a decrease in our posting frequency; as we’re all involved in academia, fall brings an uptick in work and thus we’ve had to focus on other more mundane pursuits for the last few weeks. But here are a few notes on what we’ve been up to.

  • We visited PM during Restaurant Week and loved it!
  • We ate at Seoul Garden recently (picture above), and while it’s not quite as good (in our opinion) as Korea House, it’s an excellent option for those wanting Korean food in southeast Nashville. We should warn potential diners that when you enter the restaurant, you’ll be immediately asked if you want barbecue-style dining, or regular table dining. The restaurant requires a minimum of two barbecue orders to be placed if you choose the former option. We were confused upon entering and could not understand our waitress’ query as to our dining preference, were ushered to the barbecue tables, and then very politely ushered to a regular table when we both ordered the bul go gi combo, which was not barbecued at the table.
  • This week’s New York Times Magazine is all about food. There’s an interesting article on tipping.
  • A new favorite pizzeria of ours: Painturo’s. They’re located only on the outskirts of Nashville (locations below), but worth checking out. Their pizzas are thin crust and their house pizza includes apples as a topping.
