Planet Barbecue! Cookbook giveaway

Summer means barbecue (or, if you’re in the south “grilling out”), and it’s a great way to cook up the season’s bounty that you’re (hopefully!) picking up from a local source. Chef Steven Raichlen has just produced a new cookbook, entitled Planet Barbecue!, with 309 recipes from 60 countries. The book is not just about burgers and steaks; there’s all sorts of recipes, for pork, lamb, vegetables, salad, and even dessert. Steven will be coming to Nashville to sign his cookbooks at the Cool Springs Galleria Williams Sonoma on June 26 at 3-5pm.

In preparation for his visit, Steven’s team is offering a free copy of the cookbook to the lucky winner of a giveaway hosted by Nashville Foodies! To enter, leave a comment and tell us what is your favorite item to grill out. Comments will be collected until midnight on Thursday, June 17 and the winner contacted on June 18.

I love grilled pork chops. They are so versatile with any seasoning/marinade and taste great with plain ol’ salt & pepper, too.

Sausage. We bring back 5-10 pounds from Central New York each summer from a butcher shop in Oswego, NY where we lived before moving to Nashville. Our fav is either garlic and cheese or mild italian with red wine.

My favorite thing to grill is corn on the cob. There is nothing like fresh off the grill corn on the cob with little charred pieces. Soak em’ down in butter and lemon juice with some fresh grated Parmesan cheese on top. Yummy delicious.

My favorite thing on the grill is bacon-wrapped scallops with barbeque and a dash of sriracha! Soooo delicious! (The hardest part is making sure the toothpick that keeps it all together doesn’t catch on fire, haha!)

Bratwurst or Italian sausage at a tailgate party. Especially after the brats have been boiled in beer and onions for a few minutes! If I can’t be at a tailgate then give me a nicely marinated t-bone steak please.

Ooh – I LOOOOVE to grill vegetables the best: peppers, corn, and especially onions until they slip apart and have that sweet, grilled taste. Delicious!
